Description

Founded in 1966 the University of Bath is located in the south west of England, in what is commonly regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the UK.

Famed for its Georgian architecture and acres of green space, Bath was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and is home to an abundance of historic sites, theatres and museums, including the Jane Austen museum, which celebrates the life of the author in her hometown.

Austen may have been before the university’s time but the institution boasts notable alumni spanning a wide range of disciplines, including founder of the Centre for Statistics in Medicine, Professor Douglas G Altman, television producer Ash Atalla and rugby player Steve Borthwick.

The university is organised across four faculties: engineering and design, humanities and social science, management and science. It has gained particular recognition for its research facilities and in 2014 the Research Excellence Framework graded 87% of Bath’s research activities as being ‘world leading/internationally excellent’.

In 2012, the university began a three year campus improvement project to improve and expand teaching space, student accommodation, including a new £10million arts centre.

Sports are central to the Bath experience: the university has among the best sports facilities in the UK. In the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Bath hosted a range of international teams and lays claim to several Olympic medal-winners who trained at the university.

More than 15,000 students are enrolled at Bath, with more than a quarter of them coming from outside the UK and representing 100 nationalities.

Employment rates for graduates are higher than average, something the university attributes to the work placements offered with every degree course and its emphasis on practical, ‘real life’ skills that employers value.

Bath boasts active partnerships with a wide range of commercial organisations, including Rolls Royce, L'Oréal, The World Bank, Nike, Airbus and Ford.

I think this university is amazing, it has all the benefits of being a campus university while also being close to the centre of Bath. There are so many resources available and so many opportunities to get involved in.

Very good university overall - teaching standard varies between lecturers with some being very good and helpful out of lectures but some lecturers are not quite as engaging or approachable. One of the best things about the uni is its high ranking which increases placement opportunities, and the placement team were very helpful when searching for a job. The uni has good free sports facilities but the gym is quite crowded. Beautiful campus and lake!

University of Bath being a top 10 university in the UK lives up to its expectations. I study economics and maths which is a course not provided by many universities in the UK because of the heavy workload of 2 major subjects, however, the university provides great resources to cope up with the workload and the lecturers/seminar teachers provide an elaborate method of segregating work. The university is known for its world-class sports facilities as it is one of the best universities in terms of sports. The university as a whole is inclusive of all the students and societies provide a great platform to meet new people. The university has the highest graduate employment rate in the UK. Bath is known to be a student city so there is a nightlife for people who like to go clubbing. It’s also close to Bristol which is one of the major cities in England.

The uni offers both academic and pastoral tutors so there is lots of help available. The facilities, especially the library, are good and the lake is beautiful. It’s a very safe campus and people are very friendly!

Great university of exposure and career development. I learned how to make friends and how to move forward in life. It had been a great experience so far. Covid-19 was a bitch tho. Could’ve experienced much more in the last 4 months if it wasn’t...
