Description

Robert Gordon University was at first a hospital from the mid-18th century, before becoming a technical college in 1910, and finally a modern university in 1992. This Scottish institution is named for a 17th century businessman and philanthropist who was born in the city of Aberdeen, where the university has a main campus.

The university is structured around 11 schools: Aberdeen Business School; School of Applied Social Studies; School of Computing Science and Digital Media; School of Creative and Cultural Business; School of Engineering; Gray's School of Art; School of Health Sciences; The Law School; School of Nursing and Midwifery; School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences; and The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment.

RGU is actively involved in international exchange, and is a member of the Erasmus+ scheme. Second or third year undergraduate courses such as those in Computer Network Management and Business Information Systems are available for overseas students from the school of Computing Science.

Among the alumni of RGU are jewellery designer Ola Gorie, architect Maxwell Hutchinson, Olympian swimmer Hannah Miley, and abstract painter Callum Innes.

Very close community and friendly atmosphere. New building and very nice facilities for Health, engineering and business. Lecturers were always approachable and visible. The campus is around 15 minutes from the city centre but there is a very regular bus service to and from the university. There is a big focus on student opinion and striving to improve courses and university life.

I would highly recommend RGU. The staff is very helpful and willing to sit with you during their free time to help you with any issues you may have during your studies. I was also given the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus programme that not all universities offer which was an added bonus. The only reason I have given 4* is due to the grading system. The way that grades are carried over from 3rd year to 4th is flawed and merit within classifications should be revisited. Overall, I would recommend this university as it offers a number of extracurricular activities such as student representatives, sports teams and volunteering opportunities. The careers staff are very helpful and let you know how you can use these opportunities to enhance your career prospects.

Robert Gordon University provides a lot of interesting modules. The theory is combined with practice really well. What I loved about the university is the international environment, where I had the chance to develop my skills further.

Robert Gordon University provides the requisite modern facilities, teaching and social setting for student learning. The campus in itself is "healing" with beautiful surroundings. What stood out for me was the availability and support of faculty members to not only my academic needs but my entire mental and social wellbeing (needs). It was a great experience studying in this gold standard university for my masters program and currently pursuing a doctoral degree. From my first day, I knew instinctively that RGU was the place for me. I just knew and I was (am) right.

Robert Gordon is excellent in terms of transitioning new students into uni life, There’s an array of generous courses and disciplines to study. One of the highlights of Robert Gordon is its online resources service (Moodle) it’s set up in a way that it’s easily accessible. Although the security around campus could be regulated better.
