Description
The Department of Economics at William and Mary offers a diverse and flexible undergraduate curriculum to a large and growing number of majors, dozens of minors, and hundreds of students interested in international relations, public policy, and environmental science. The goals of the undergraduate Economics curriculum are to train students to use economic insights and tools to better understand the world, and to provide students with the skills needed to pursue fulfilling careers and enjoy a lifetime of learning. To reach these goals, the Economics curriculum helps students gain:A knowledge of the fundamental theoretical propositions of economics;An understanding of how economic models are formulated, tested, and modified through data collection and analysis;An appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of economic models and the diversity of economic thinking;An understanding of economic institutions and their role in the broader social, political, and historical context;An ability to present economic material effectively through writing and verbal presentation.
