As a scientific discipline and profession, social work examines various relations between people and their surroundings. The purpose of social work is to enable every individual to realize their true potential, enrich their lives and prevent functional problems. The profession of social work is focused on problem solving and bringing change. In connection to this, social workers are the representatives of action and change for the individuals, families and communities that they serve in society. Social work is a system of interrelated sets of values, theories and practices. Social work values are the profession's national and international sets of moral codes.
