Mathematics is a language that makes it possible to describe facts of high complexity precisely and thus make them accessible to rational treatment. Mathematics is an integral part of our culture and civilization. She deals with abstract structures and develops methods for their investigation. It is able to model problems of the real world by means of mathematical structures and to bring them to a concrete solution by means of numerical methods. The main focuses in teaching and research are: Algebra and number theory, Analysis, Applied and computer-aided mathematics.
