BA CA Communication Arts in Broadcasting and Journalism Emphasis

Introduction to audio and video production principles, disciplines and techniques. Students become familiar with the procedures of studio production and acquire hands-on experience with the basic equipment used in producing studio programs such as news, interviews, and commercial announcement. A close examination of the content of the electronic media as communication for the dissemination of ideas, and how they affect the cultures in which they are a part. Students learn media literacy skills through the study of programs and critical literature; Under this general heading additional subjects are available to the student who wants to gain additional education in the field of communication. The student will focus attention on one of the specific areas of emphasis listed below. In some instances the student may be permitted to select two areas of emphasis during the same semester, and thereby earn six hours of credit. The course may be repeated for a maximum of 21 hours.
