Description
Every kilo counts for airplanes: particularly light materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics could save huge amounts of kerosene, but their manufacture is complex and expensive. The development of new materials and processes is usually associated with high costs. Engineers must therefore consider the economic consequences of their decisions. In order to meet the increasingly complex requirements placed on materials, technical and economic knowledge are required at the same time.
