BA Hons Drama and Scriptwriting

The Scriptwriting specialism gives you an opportunity to develop your own writing voice. You will have the opportunity to write scripts in many different forms, theatre, film, radio and TV. The development of your scriptwriting benefits from your immersion in the Drama course. Because of the performing, drama element you have a holistic understanding of what it means to write dramatic stories. Your studies are enhanced in a variety of ways. You will have access to Northumbria and Live Theatre s Writer in Residence scheme as well as many other visiting experts. The Northumbria/Alphabetti Theatre script competition allows the winner to see their short script produced and the final year on the course sees all students given an opportunity to have their work read in a professional showcase event.
