Master in Art History

As a city of the arts, Basel is an excellent location for the scientific study of visual art from painting, sculpture and sculpture through design, photography and video to installation, performance and media art as well as the architecture of European cultures. The specific profile of Basel's art history aims to recognize, explore and convey the historical, social, political and aesthetic dimensions of its artistic and cultural heritage. The connection of current issues with historical research is therefore at the center. For this purpose, an analytical and historically reflected approach to visual and artistic media is created, with the Basel museum variety and the work on the originals actively flowing into the teaching.
