The Silesian University of Technology is a public university with three campuses in the Polish province of Silesia. The main campus is in the city of Gliwice.

It was founded in 1945 by professors of the Lwow Polytechnic as a scientific and educational facility for Upper Silesia, the most industrialised area in Poland. At the time, there were 2,750 students across four faculties with almost 200 academic teachers.

Today, there are about 22,000 students across 13 faculties of architecture, electronics and computer science, civil engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, mining and geology, biomedical engineering, materials engineering and metallurgy, energy and environmental engineering, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, organisation and management, transport, the College of Social Sciences and Foreign Philologies, and the Institute of Physics. Eleven are situated in Gliwice, two in Katowice and two in Zabrze.

There are almost 60 study programmes and about 200 specialisations. There are around 600 PhD students, 3,400 employees, including 1,750 academic staff and 165 professors.

The Foreign Languages Centre offers language courses during the academic year for conversational Polish, Polish for academic purposes, and a Polish Language Summer School.

I have been studying architecture here for 3 years now, I feel like it's a good choice to do your undergraduate studies here. However the school is really specific compared to big European schools of architecture, you will not find almost any people from abroad here. There is a big group of students who are changing in a good direction, organising events, competitions etc.

In my opinion, the university maintains its very high level. Very valuable people teach here, with lots of experience and teaching skills. Of course, there are some professors who are annoying or have no teaching skills at all, which makes some subjects invaluable. However, this can be described as a fraction which I believe is a lot bigger at other universities, judging from what my friends say. The measuring equipment is sometimes very old, but they also get new hardware as well. The faculty I studied in has a mostly renovated inside & inside building. After graduating, no big problem getting work, at least as an embedded drivers programmer.

After three and a half (3,5) years of studying Electronics and Telecomunication at the Electrical Faculty of our University, I can surely recommend it. If you're looking for a place with doctors and professors being very student friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about what they teach. A place in which you can consolidate friendships, where people are really open minded and eager to help each other out. A place in which you can grow in terms of soft and hard skills, by joining one of many, many students' science groups and organizations, that reach to the furthest corners of our globe sometimes. If you want to discover who you are, and what you want to do - that's a place for you. If I were to decide again where would I like to study after high school, I would pick this University a hundred times over. I do not regret anything, even if things were tough at times. I hope to see you there! ?

"A Place with many opportunities to improve" I have started studying at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice in the faculty of Architecture two years ago and this was the best choice that I could ever be done. Let me describe the experience in the following focuses: Teachers I have this experience that our teachers are open-minded and very knowledgeable. Not only they are dedicated to lectures, but also they are spending much time with students for additional activities Competitions This is a fact that many students from our faculty and our university are the winners of the local and international competitions. This is the result of high proactivity and ambition which is generated in our university Innovation In my university what is very recognizable is that we are taught to think invigoratingly. We have extraordinary classes. Students/Student life SUT is located in Gliwice which is a small place. However, very lively and very encouraging to go out and meet with people. With have many places to sit outside, many fields, many great restaurants and bars. You will always find a spot for yourself. I totally recommend studying at the Silesian University of Technology and I promise you will not regret it!
