Description
The aim of the doctoral program at the University of Applied Arts Vienna is to contribute to the development of the sciences in the departments represented at the university through guided, but independently carried out research.
In the doctoral program, students should acquire the ability to solve complex scientific problems in basic research and applied research at a high international level in accordance with recognized scientific standards. Furthermore, the doctoral program serves to train and promote the next generation of scientists.
The graduates of the scientific doctoral program:
- Carry out innovative research alone or in a team and take on coordinating and managerial functions.
- should be able to conduct independent research, develop projects and exercise well-founded criticism of the methods and development logics of the sciences. They should not only produce ideas for others, but should also be able to leave the given path through their reflection abilities. You should be able to move confidently in the subject area of the dissertation.
- can be used primarily in subject-specific academic work areas and can pursue academic, art-critical, curatorial, artistic or journalistic careers
