Description

NTU has been recognised with numerous awards in sustainability, including coming third in the People & Planet University Ranking, 5th in UI Green Metric and winners of the “Outstanding Sustainability Leadership Team of the Year” at the Green Gown awards. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) pride ourselves on our ability to make a meaningful difference. We are committed to being bold, to changing lives and to doing the right things. We fulfil these goals through our applied research and gold-standard teaching (TEF 2017); our holistic dedication to the success of our students; our rigorous commitments to sustainability, equality and diversity, and a powerful ‘Success For All’ agenda; our substantial investment in local communities; and our collaborations with domestic and international industry. As one of the largest universities in the UK, we have over 33,000 students and more than 4,000 staff, based across five different campuses. We have a comprehensive academic offer and are one of the UK’s most employment-focused universities; all our courses include work-related experience, and we have a top-10 ranking for the number of students completing year-long placements (HESA 2018/19). We have the second largest number of postgraduate students in the UK studying professional qualifications. We have over 1,300 apprentices currently enrolled — we are ranked in the UK’s top five universities for employer satisfaction (FE Choices Employer Satisfaction Survey’, 2019) with a score of 92% for the quality of our apprenticeship training. We are a multi-award-winning institution, securing a ‘University of the Year’ title for three consecutive years (2017—2019), alongside a host of other accolades. We are among the UK’s top five recruiters of students from disadvantaged backgrounds (2019 UK Social Mobility Awards); our Success For All agenda enables students from all backgrounds to have fair access to entry to NTU, additional academic support where needed, and an award-winning dashboard to analyse engagement of all groups of students, ensuring early intervention. Our award-winning Student Support Services provides a wide range of support, including financial advice, health and wellbeing, disability, mental health and dyslexia support, with dedicated specialist teams.

The student life and atmosphere is incredible and you get to know all sorts of people from different backgrounds. I had fantastic opportunities to travel around the world on my degree and meet several industry experts.

The uni was a great place to experience city life. Not only was the course really enjoyable but the social aspect of the university was great! The university really had a community feel after living there a month or so you felt like you knew everyone - I think this is because the city campus is so well positioned. It is close to the city centre and most of the uni accommodation. Loved my time at Trent!

This University provided an excellent course and executed with proficient and experienced staff. There was a lot of face to face teaching and input. The campus life at the Clifton site was great fun and welcoming. The city itself was great for students with lots of great nightlife and entertainment. The only negative is that the University is not as highly regarded as it should be . I have no hesitation in recommending it to any undergraduate. It helped me to achieve a 2:1 in my degree and gave me the attributes to go and pursue a job in my chosen career in film and television. A 32 year career which is still ongoing. Also I still have the three best friends that I met on my first day at Nottingham Trent.

it was a very nice experience schooling at this university. As an international student, I was nervous about fitting in but my nervousness was erased as the student body is very diverse with people from almost all continents I met people from countries I never heard about. The lecturers and academic staff try their best to teach and help students and the student support team were amazing at their job. Overall was a good experience.

Nottingham is the perfect city for students it's full of clubs and bars whilst being small enough for you to walk everywhere. The actual learning is very bad, however, 90% of my lecturers are not native English speakers and for some of them it is impossible to understand what they are saying. The grammar on some of the lecture slides is hilarious and you will spend a lot of your time in lectures questioning where your £10,000 went. You may decide to be smart and re-watch these lectures at home with the ability to pause and slow down. However without subtitles you will get nowhere. You will not for one moment feel like you are getting value for money. There is an inverse relationship between the price of education and the quality of education. If you asked an 8 year old to read out the lecture slides word by word it would be better than watching these lecturers stumble over their words. The overall university experience is great but I can't put in to words how poor the teaching quality is.

Attending Nottingham Trent was an amazing experience. The dedication of the staff on my course (education studies) was amazing and the content was amazing too. As a whole it is a very supportive uni who provided me with help the whole way through even discovering I was dyslexic and supporting me of how to still achieve my best. I would recommend this university to anyone!

Well, in general, I will say NTU is a good school for international students and Nottingham is an excellent city, for international students because as an international student you will easily find people from your cultural background to connect with and find your local food items to buy, which makes it easier for people to adapt.
