Would recommend to anyone. Only downside is I believe that compared to the other Russel group universities it is not as well respected.

It’s a great university, with good facilities and brilliant academic staff. I did my PhD at the Newcastle University Business School which has the Triple Crown accreditation held by less than 1% of all business schools in the world. Considering nice and cheap city, it’s a good choice for an international graduate student with a family.

I studied Linguistics BA Hons starting in 2016. My course was really interesting and lecturers were really good, thorough and always happy to help. The library resources, e-library and online lectures were all really useful throughout my degree. I loved the course as well as Newcastle as a city and a place I was lucky to call my home for 3 years! The location of the university right in the city centre is ideal for all students and means you get to know the city inside out throughout your time there. I would recommend Newcastle University to anyone and everyone and I can’t wait to be able to go back and visit!

The accommodation at Newcastle is very sociable - I was in Castle leazes which although was not the most modern accommodation it was very sociable and met my friends who I lived with in second and third year. I studied politics and specifically chose Newcastle as they were more flexible choosing what modules you enjoyed more or lectures you found more interesting.

I really loved my time at Newcastle. I enjoyed my course, the lectures & seminars were interesting and there were also opportunities to take part in local work placements and international internships which has really helped with my career development skills. I also loved living in Newcastle, Jesmond the student area has loads of shops / bars and restaurants and it’s a short distance to town. It always felt super safe & friendly, the city isn’t too big but there is still loads going on!

The first thing you need to know about Newcastle University is that you will love its infrastructure and its location. Newcastle city centre has plenty to offer and the university in walking-distance from every major interesting spot the city has. Don't forget to check out the Careers service at King's Gate where a rather large team is there to help you land a job and overall the uni staff is young and energetic super nice people, take advantage of it. The only thing I did not like was that a few courses had as main lecturer new professors that seemed quite unprepared or simply not confident enough to engage with a room full of students (even though this might've been a temporary thing related to some professors being on strike). Other than that, Newcastle Uni is a great place to be at, meet interesting people, and learn from a very industry-rich partnership type of education.

Professors: Most professors are friendly and reachable; however, the study plan for all modules is unique such that all what most professors do is read from the power-point slides. Nevertheless, this is the case in many universities in the UK and self-study is a must for every student. Location: Excellent, close to the centre, world-wide restaurants shops near the campus. Student Life: Various societies are available in the uni, no student should be bored and lonely during his studies. Accommodation: Good. Value: Expensive for international students.

Living in Castle Leazes accommodation in first year, I met a lot of my friends throughout university. I was lucky enough to have an ensuite room, with a large living room and kitchen too for the floor, although they're not all as modern as this. With over 1,000 people in these halls, they are definitely the most sociable and I would recommend Castle Leazes to anyone going. Societies are also a key aspect of university and allow you to meet more people, join events, be part of a team in sports matches, and it can also add to your CV. I didn't join a sport until the end of first year, but I'm so glad I did it, even if I started late. I studied Marketing and Management and thoroughly enjoyed my three years there. The lecturers are all very supportive, and you can choose a range of modules in second and third year. The business school has arguably some of the best facilities on Campus and even allowed me to do an internship in Rwanda during my time there. I also lived in Jesmond during my second and third years and would say that it is the best student area in the country. You have so many bars on Osbourne road, everyone is around the corner from one another and it's also a very nice area with a Waitrose as your local shop, alongside a Tesco and Sainsburys. It's also relatively cheap for the large houses you get!
